EASTS IRG (International Research Group)

What is EASTS IRG?

The EASTS Board in its meeting during Bangkok Conference, launched the international research group (IRG) scheme. Several international cooperative research projects are being conducted as an IRG approved by EASTS due to the increasing importance of international viewpoints in the transportation field.

The Society welcomes your submission to the IRG.

1. Background
1) The importance of international viewpoints in the transportation field has been increasing.
2) Actual international cooperative research activities are significantly increasing.

2. Scheme of the IRG
1) The IRG is a research group approved by EASTS to conduct cooperative researches.
2) The IRG is expected to hold seminars and symposia as part of EASTS activities.
3) The IRG is encouraged to apply to other funding sources and to coordinate with other organizations.
4) It is expected that the IRG will activate and invite young researchers of EASTS.

3. Advantages of the IRG
1) The IRG has a high possibility to hold special session at EASTS conferences.
2) The IRG are welcome to advertise your activities through web site and mailing list of EASTS.
3) Only the IRG is eligible for the existing ICRA Grant.

4. Requirements for Application of the IRG to EASTS
1) The IRG is required to submit an application form to the Office of EASTS Secretary-General.
2) The IRG is required to be approved by the EASTS Board.
3) The IRG is organized by regular members coming from at least two EASTS country/area.
4) The IRG is required to submit its report of activities to the Society every year.

Application for a new IRG

As of this moment, three IRGs have been completed, and currently eight IRGs are authorized and proceeding their cooperative researches.

Now, we are accepting application for a new IRG. If you or your colleagues are interested in starting the new IRG, please complete the application form and send it to the secretariat of EASTS addressing takada[at]g.dendai.ac.jp (please change [at] to @ when you send e-mail).

The deadline of application submission is August 5, 2008.

The application will be discussed at the coming Board Meeting which will be held on August 11, 2008.

Notice of the relationship between IRG and ICRA:
EASTS has been offering research grants to a group of researchers through the International Cooperative Research Activity (ICRA) project. Now only IRG is eligible for ICRA Grant, so research group, which intends to apply for next ICRA grant, should be qualified as an IRG before applying for ICRA. (see http://www.easts.info/activities/icra/icra.html)

* EASTS-ISC provides us the statistics of paper submission to the Dalian Conference by topic/field. We appreciate that those who would like to apply to IRG refer it.
