EASTS IRG (International Research Group)

What is EASTS IRG?

The EASTS Board in its meeting during Bangkok Conference, launched the international research group (IRG) scheme. Several international cooperative research projects are being conducted as an IRG approved by EASTS due to the increasing importance of international viewpoints in the transportation field.

The Society welcomes your submission to the IRG.

1.Background:
International Research Group (IRG) is organized in order to activate international cooperative researches among the members of EASTS. Its research activity is expected to contribute to the progress of transportation researches in eastern Asia and to the promotion of EASTS.

2.Advantages:
1)IRG can utilize the EASTS official website and mailing list to announce its activities to the members of EASTS.
2)IRG can utilize the EASTS sponsorship.
3)IRG has a high possibility to hold a special technical session at biennial EASTS conferences.
4)IRG is eligible for the ICRA research grant (http://www.easts.info/activities/icra/icra.html).

3.Requirements:
1)IRG is expected to hold seminars and symposia as part of EASTS activities.
2)IRG is expected to invite and activate young researchers.
3)IRG is expected to apply for research grant other than ICRA.
4)IRG is expected to achieve its original research plan within four years.
5)IRG is required to submit its annual activity report.

4. Requirements for application of IRG
1)The applicant must submit an application form to the secretary-general of EASTS.
2)The IRG is organized by EASTS regular members coming from at least two EASTS country/area.
3)The application must be approved by the EASTS Board.

Application for a new IRG

Now, we are accepting application for organizing a new IRG. If you are interested in starting a new IRG, please complete the application form, and send it to the following e-mail address:
irg[at]easts.info(please change [at] to @ when you send e-mail).

The application will be reviewed in the coming board meeting in the end of August, 2010.

The deadline of application submission is August 20, 2010.


Notice of the relationship between IRG and ICRA:
EASTS has been offering research grants to a group of researchers through the International Cooperative Research Activity (ICRA) scheme. Now only IRG is eligible for ICRA grant, so research group which intends to apply for the ICRA grant in 2011 should be qualified as an IRG in 2010. For further information on ICRA grant, please visit following web site: http://www.easts.info/activities/icra/icra.html.

* EASTS-ISC provides us the statistics of paper submission to the Surabaya Conference by topic/field. We appreciate that those who would like to apply to IRG refer it.
